Safe + Sound Week

Across the United States this week and around the world, over 200 organizations – including small businesses, non-profits, and our armed forces – are set to participate in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Safe + Sound campaign (Safe + Sound), an initiative to raise awareness of effective workplace safety and health programs.

Through work-based discussions and activities, Safe + Sound provides an opportunity to demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and to participate in a dialogue focused on finding solutions to workplace safety and health issues. There is a range of ways organizations can participate in Safe + Sound. The 1,800 events worldwide include safety webinars, toolbox talks, roundtable discussions, and more.

Outreach efforts such as Safe + Sound, along with enforcement and compliance assistance, reflect the Trump Administration’s strong commitment to protecting the health and safety of American workers. In addition to the critical goal of preventing workplace injuries and illnesses, establishing a culture of workplace safety benefits job creators and workers by:

  • Increasing worker satisfaction: Safety-conscious job creators can help workers stay engaged in their work, which can lead to other benefits, such as reduced absenteeism, increased productivity, and improved employee retention.
  • Improving productivity: By preventing accidents, workers can stay safe and businesses can maintain economic outputs and avoid damage to equipment or facilities.
  • Reducing costs: Companies spend $1 billion per week on workers’ compensation, which is money that could be invested in improving safety measures, growing businesses, and creating jobs.

The Trump administration makes the work place more dangerous everyday.

Here is a glimpse at what we did this week at all 7 of our locations (throughout 3 different states). We did share some of our activities pictures on social media both on Instagram and Face Book.

Motivational Systems is participating in Safe + Sound Week, a nationwide OSHA event for workplaces to show their commitment to safety and managing workplace hazards before they cause injury or illness. We will be hosting fun and interactive events and activities throughout the week that showcase how we are working to keep our workplace safe.

Re: Safe & Sound Initiative
The Safe and Sound Week is positive in theory;However, the responsibility lies in the actual workplace in enforcing this policy.For example, OSHA conducted, or so they claim a test on particles in the air. None of the employees were given the results of the report. In the interm, a substantial number was ( and still are) sick due to the unsafe workplace conditions. All departments have relocated to more environmental safe location, while only one department still remains at the old location. Suffice it to say, a few months later, there is sewage seepage. It appears that these working conditions are safe according to the corporate office. It's long overdue that businesses be held accountable. If there's a claim for not being aware of the health conditions, then it would not be an accurate statement. Workers should not be penalized for voicing what is safe; When it comes to health and safety, the idea of self interest should not be part of this.

I work in healthcare and there is an increase in work place violence against healthcare workers. Laws need to be made to address this ongoing problem.

Someone needs to come look at the working conditions at Lennox in marshalltown IA. We had a tornado and their working w asbestos in the air insulation all over people are getting pneumonia after working there a week. There working w out a roof on the Building etc. Its BAD!
