An estimated 21 million individuals in the U.S. workforce are public service employees, including those at the department. America’s public servants are educators, first responders and health-care workers, military personnel, local, state and federal government employees, and nonprofit workers: They all provide essential services to our communities and economy. That’s why we're committed to ensuring as many public servants as possible take advantage of the Public Service Student Loan Forgiveness program, also known as PSLF.

Data is truly one of the superpowers of the U.S. Department of Labor. From tracking unemployment claims, calculating monthly job growth and inflation, and tabulating owed back wages for workers, data powers virtually everything we do. 

June is LGBTQIA+ Pride Month. It was in June 1969 that the Stonewall Uprising occurred, considered by many to have sparked the modern LGBTQIA+ civil-rights movement. Here at the Department of Labor, we rang in Pride Month by doing something that has never been done before in the history of the department — raising the Pride flag at our national office.

Every year in America, 1 in 5 adults experiences some form of mental illness. We’re taking advantage of National Mental Health Awareness Month to highlight some of the ways we're promoting mental health at work.
