A Memorial Day Message

A folded flag with the text Memorial Day 2021

As we enter Memorial Day Weekend I know that, after the year we’ve had, we’re all ready to enjoy the summer. But before we head out to celebrate, I want to take time to express my gratitude to the people who gave their lives for this country while serving in our Armed Forces.

They sacrificed everything so we could go on living in a land where our rights are protected and our dreams are within reach. All of us are indebted to them.

Here at the Labor Department we can work to improve people’s lives because our values endure -- thanks to those who died to defend them.

I am humbled to serve a nation that has produced such outstanding soldiers. My heart is with their families this weekend, and I pray for their peace and comfort. Thank you, and please continue to take precautions to keep yourselves and your families safe this weekend.
